USES

A benzodiazepine is temazopepam (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peen). It has an impact on brain chemistry that may be out of balance in those who struggle with insomnia.

For short-term use, temazopam is used to treat insomnia (difficulty sleeping or staying asleep).

Temazepam acts by slowing down the brain, or central nervous system, which makes patients drowsy and facilitates sleep.

WARNINGS

Temazepam can cause respiratory slowdown or cessation, particularly if you’ve recently taken alcohol, other drugs that can cause breathing slowdown, or opioid medications.

If you do not have at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep before returning to activity, do not take this medication.
