USES
In cases of non-cancerous stomach ulcers, GERD, active duodenal ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and erosive esophagitis, omeprazole is used to manage excess stomach acid. Omeprazole, a member of the class of medications known as proton pump inhibitors, functions by preventing the generation of stomach acid.
In order to treat stomach ulcers brought on by Helicobacter pylori infections, omeprazole may also be administered in conjunction with antibiotics (H. pylori).
Adults who experience heartburn two or more days a week can manage it with over-the-counter (OTC) omeprazole. For a consecutive 14 days, the OTC brand must be taken as a course on a regular basis.
WARNINGS
Kidney issues may arise with omeprazole. Notify your physician if you are peeing less frequently than normal or if you notice blood in your urine.
A recent infection could be the cause of diarrhea. If you experience bloody or runny diarrhea, give your doctor a call.
It is not recommended to use omeprazole to relieve heartburn symptoms right away.
Omeprazole may aggravate or produce new lupus symptoms. If you experience joint pain and a skin rash on your arms or cheeks that gets worse in the sun, let your doctor know.
Long-term or frequent use of this medication may increase your risk of developing a broken bone.

If you experience any of the following, stop taking this medication and contact your doctor right away:
acute stomach ache, bloody or watery diarrhea;
unexpected or fresh back, hip, thigh, or wrist pain;
seizure (fits and fits);
kidney problems: fever, rash, nausea, appetite loss, joint discomfort, decreased frequency of urination, blood in the urine, weight gain;
low magnesium – jitteriness, cramps, spasms in the muscles, feeling like you’re choking or experiencing dizzy; or
joint pain and a skin rash on your face or arms that gets worse in the sun are new or worsening signs of lupus.
